It's Taken Over My Mind

Before we get started on MamaKat's weekly writing assignment please allow me a moment to invite the loved ones who read your blog to a chance to get back at you. Sounds promising right?

On Tuesday, January 13 my beloved, sweet, handsome, adoring, wonderful, sexy, smokin hot husband (I'm not trying to get in his good graces or anything) is going to do his very first ever guest post on my blog.

I am also going to put up a linky so if anyone else wants to participate they can link up their "special someones's" guest post and we can read them all! So tell your husband, your wife, anyone who reads your blog and reads your comments but is not them self a blogger, to have a chance at the keyboard for once. My last 3 posts talk more about it and also have ideas for posts if you need any help.

Can't wait to hear what your other halves have to say!!!

Ok, here are MamaKat's prompts for this week:

1.) Describe your latest obsession.

2.) Ask a loved one to use 6 descriptive words to describe you and report your findings. How well do they know you?

3.) Who was your first bloggy friend? How did you find each other? Do you still correspond?

4.) Tell us about your pet! If you have a weird infatuation with your dog or cat we want to hear about it (or if they just plain drive you crazy)...but please don't compare them to children. It's just not the same.

I chose number 1...Describe your latest obsession...

I told you all of my love for Lego video games here. Let us expand on that. Cause if there is one thing us mom's can relate to, it's video game addiction. Not the kids, us.

Some of you may not understand my obsession with all things Xbox or Nintendo DS. But I think if you gave it a try, you would. I'm tellin ya, it's the best mind distraction out there. Besides sex of course. If you've got a lot on your mind and you need to escape, put down that good book and warm bath and pick up an Xbox controller. It's good for you. Trust me. I'm very trustworthy.

I didn't always feel this way. I was once a non-believer too. I laughed at my husband for wanting an Xbox. I told him he was a grown man and why would he want to play kid games?

Then, we got one. I gave in to his childish whim. And that's when it happened. It all started with Scarface. Any game where I could virtually piss on a dumpster, sell my sperm for "balls" power in a back alley and pull any shmo out of his car by the collar and proceed to "jack" him for it was A OK in my book. Did I mention the more money and power you achieved the more scantily clad the cheap hookers got back at your pimped out mansion? This one's definitely NOT G-rated.

I found myself at Best Buy one day contemplating purchasing the newer, better Xbox 360. Next thing I knew we were unloading it from my minivan at home. It's like I was video game console brainwashed. I began frequenting walkthrough/cheat code websites so that I might beat the game all the more faster. I felt oh so dirty but oh so good.

Now my husband, children and I all fight over Xbox 360 playtime. Just the way a family should be. Come on. Jump on the juvenile video game band wagon. There's plenty of room. You won't regret that next fix. You can trust me. Remember? I'm trustworthy?

57 peeps gave me a wha-what!:

We have playstation 3 and I can't get enough of Little Big Planet. It's kind of nuts!

I haven't played a video game since Tetris was the in thing! We have a Wii but I don't even play that! I'm such a loser.

i just got sucked into Wii over the christmas break. as if i needed something else to distract me from getting anything done!

prior to that, the last video game i played was qbert. that was when i was 14 & stuck in the bed with chicken pox for 2 weeks.

so imagine my delight when i was introdused to the Wii. things have really changed!

I love kicking Little man's ass on our play station 2. I havent broke down and bought the PS3 yet. We play all his X-Men games but he is dying for Lego StarWars. BTW, kiss ass!

I go through phases but since we have an XBOX, an XBOX360, Wii and Playstation 2 in the house there shouldn't be any fighting.

Check out my newest blog...left something for you there!

I love this idea - and I'm gettin' my husband to hopefully do it. Gonna post about it to see if I can get more people interested...of course, not that I have a big ass reader base but what the hell, right? Thanks for the laughs... and may I say that I am loving the Beastie Boys this morning!! Takes me WAY back!

We've got both a Playstation 3 (my husband's "gift" so he has something to do while I blog -- am I being manipulated or what????), a Wii and I have a Nintendo DS, which I love. We are getting my son hooked on computer games, and we just rented Lego Batman based on YOUR recent post. He loves it and so do we -- we are getting a second controller so we can play mommy-kid video games together -- quality time, right?

And I just love my Nintendo DS. This was the computer invented for non-gamers like myself (did I mention I like playing the games but suck big time because I can never master the controllers? My husband and I played coop play on a shooting game and I was such a hindrance. He'd be blasting away and my guy would be crouching down and getting back up over and over again because I couldn't figure out what I was doing. He finally said he didn't want to play with me anymore because I "brought him down").

So yeah...I share your obsession. And Grand Theft Auto was a kick. Might have to check out Scarface -- not for the kiddie obviously but for the hubby!

lmao, i so totally know where you're coming from. I used to be soooo addicted to playstation. my ex-husband and I burned out 3 of them .. literally .. burned the motors up because we played so much. We've gone through the segas, nintendos, playstations, etc. My daughter has a PS2, but neither of us plays it much anymore, I'm addicted to the online games .. Everquest & World of Warcraft .. anywhere that I can cast a spell that brings down tons of ice comets .. or shoot lightning bolts up the ass of virtually anything that crosses my path .. yup, i'm there. it's stress relief .. it keeps me from choking the shit out of someone who desperately needs it ;)

I have tried it before....I had a super nintendo, and it's my favorite even with all the new stuff they have brought out...that is until they came out with Mariokart Wii..then it was all over with.

My husband just bought himself a 360 for Christmas and I haven't seen him sense! You might have convinced me to pop my cherry and try it!

I would love to be able to afford things like that, but I just can't. We have a DS and that's it.

We're working towards a Wii, though.

Tiaras and Tantrums said...

HA HA - this is so funny - DO don't do video games - I suck arse at them! But my hubs will (and has always) played video games for HOURS AND HOURS!! last night I made my son say good night to Wii and he freaked out!!!! No more Wii on school nights!

Susan said...

Just left you an award - so glad I found your site again... love it.

As if I dont neglect the important stuff as it is!!! If I gave in that would mean I would have to give in for my oldest too. He is only allowed to play once or twice a week.

Oh yeah...I'm with ya. Rockband and Guitar Hero are my obsession. I asked for GH World Tour for Christmas...I love it!

I'm also into Wii...MarioKart is a blast! I was once playing with my kids and yelled, "Move outta my way, MO-FO!" No, I don't have a problem!

WiiFit is a riot as well.

Michelle said...

I have had a minor obsession when my girls got that Brainage game for the DS.

If I could stay home and play Guitar Hero all day (and perhaps find a way to get paid to do so), I would do it in a heartbeat! Some days I hurry my kids to go to bed so I can play uninterrupted!

I kicked the habit, but only because I had to.

I don't have anything new to say...but I was visiting -just to listen to the music (Welcome to the Jungle) and felt guilty about using up your bloggy waves or something without leaving any comment love...plus I was also still giggling over your "wild stallion comment...
"brass monkey, that chunky monkey..."

right there with ya babe. i bought myself a nintendo DS a while back and got sucked in :) the 360 gets used as a family activity we can all enjoy. All the LEGO games in particular :)

Melissa said...

My kids love, love, love the LEGO games...especially LEGO Batman...but me...well, I am totally hooked on Guitar Hero. Every night I have to go home and play a new gig....oh and I have to battle the "experts" too...love it!!!

I haven't played video games since... I can't even remember. I miss all the mario games.

I told the hubby about this awesome idea and you know what he said; "Ohhhh the pressure!"

Um whatever. He posts on yea old blog once every 6 months or so, so I don't know what his deal is! I'll get him to do it. I have my ways. *lol*

The video game thing...another reason I'm glad we have a basically new Xbox that we bought 2 years ago which never ever gets played...only when all the kids are here at once. So that's like MAYBE twice a year.

We were thinking about getting a Wii but again, why????

OK well actually, we can't get a Wii because knowing me, in playing the damn thing I'd probably throw the controller through the TV or into the wall. I just have that kind of unluck!

I had to laugh, last night as I was picking Hub's brain for my "P" post today, he was asking me what HE should blog about next Tuesday.

I know about the pull of gaming. I once spent a full week(perhaps three days) with little sleep and very little food while trying to conquer a game and its many levels. Needless to say I got to the last level completed it and did not win. What? Did. Not. Win. Of course I started all over and my bf at the time looked at me like I lost my mind. That was the last time I indulged in video games because if I do you may never hear from me again.

Our X-box broke down over the break. Major family let down. What would we fight over now? Ah yes, the computer.

Live.Love.Eat said...

You know, I purposely don't play any of the games we have, whether on the Playstation 3 or the DS, because it is addicting and I just don't want to go there. I have stayed so far removed from the video games in the house that my son knows that when Daddy is traveling he doesn't even ask to play Playstation because I don't work the machine. So that controls his time right there with the vids. But when I was a kid, I was a total pinball wizard!

C! I cannot believe it. I just spoke to Jimmy on the phone and somehow convinced him to write a post this weekend!!!!!!!! Now where the hell is your Mr. Linky?????

I have a PS2 that is missing its power cord. But I do play Guitar Hero when I am over at my friend Scott's house. Does that count for something? Even though I stink at it?

I've been wanting to try those lego games because I heard they are like the old school games. Ya know the ones that I can actually play?!

I play video games when ever I get the chance. So you guessed it! not very often but I love 007 games, I love getting back at people who piss me off!

Visiting from Mama Kats house;
We are currently gameing console-less, not as strange as it sounds as we do live in New Zealand after all and god knows there is nothing but sheep down here! j/k, there is a couple more things, anywho, buying a console is something we get fixated on for like a week, then we deliberate too long and our 'must save money' alter-egos kick in and we just haven't done it yet. I don't know if we can hold out much longer though, but which one to get? And would this eat into my time on the interweb-connect? Such a connundrum hmm

First. The blog title kicks ass.
Second. MamaKay's motivations also kick ass. Great way to start your day and get your few brain cells to bumpin' and grindin'.
Third. We don't have an XBox 360 but we do have a Wii and dammit if it's not addicting as well.
Oh, BTW, our neighbors have the new lips game for XBox 360 and lemme tell you... it's a hoot
